I’m going to Mexico!

I’ve been sick in bed for a few days, feverish in a heat wave and struggling to swallow.  But this morning when I woke I felt clear headed with  enough energy to get out of bed.  I was listening to  Nick Mulvey’s track “Fever to Form” – looking through old photos I had collected as inspiration and I got hit by a wave of passion, inspiration and all at once I was updating my website, looking up photo agencies to reach out to, scribbling out ideas for films, photo magazines –  but I get too many ideas swirling around, too much excitement that I get stuck. This happens every few weeks to me – where I get swallowed by this imploding fever of passion  and become frozen by all the different possibilities there are in life.  I hope to be a successful photographer/filmmaker, to start my own line of home goods & clothing, to start painting again, to teach, to start a photo magazine, to travel, to build a community of friends and artists, to have a small farm, to be a mother, to better the world ( for lack of better words), and the list goes on and on.

As I was writing this I found out I will be going to Mexico for two weeks in December for work! Thats one thing I’ve been itching for and am so excited to be going. I’m hoping to do a few photo projects while down there to really make the most of the my stay, but besides that I’m just looking forward to wondering the streets and taking in the culture.  Any suggestions on where to go? Any safety tips?  I’ll be in Sayulita for part of it and will definitely be going to check out Brittney Borjeson’s shop Evoke  ( check out this article on her in Domino )  I also really would love to make it to Tulum!

I’m so excited to see all these vibrant colors in person, these pink & orange hues mixed with the blues & greens of the plants and ocean are so beautiful.
